Scaffolding for Tata Steel

Since March, the Tata Steel site in Ijmuiden, the Netherlands, has gained 40 Altrad fitters. Client Duro Felguera is carrying out a turnaround on blast furnace 6 there. To complete the mechanical work, they can count on our iron-strength team of scaffolders!

Are you afraid of heights?

The challenge is not the slightest: with a total height of 120 metres, our mechanics are allowed to erect scaffolding taller than even the Statue of Liberty in New York! The underlying logistics process is also not self-evident. With several parties in a small area, the blast furnace has to be taken care of both internally and externally. Various mechanical parts have to be replaced at dizzying heights, thus making for a unique project for our scaffolding construction department.

An upgrade in sustainability

The job is significant in the sense that this is the first maintenance of Blast Furnace 6 at Tata steel in almost four decades. Duro Felguera aims to use this to extend the life of the site and reduce CO2 emissions. This allows us, as a newcomer to Tata Steel, to show what we as ALTRAD SERVICES Benelux are capable of and to make a positive contribution to ecological business processes and the climate!
