De la passion à la profession : Franky Verspeet au volant chez ALTRAD

Since May 2024, Franky Verspeet has strengthened the ALTRAD Services team as a truck driver. His love for trucks began in his youth, and this passion comes fully into its own in his current position.

From his own company to a fresh start

Franky grew up among trucks thanks to his father, who was a driver. ‘I loved driving with him,’ he says.
Later, he had his own transport company with his wife for 20 years. ‘We mainly drove DAF trucks, and I even participated in truck shows. I enjoyed keeping my trucks in peak condition.’
When self-employment ended, ALTRAD came his way. ‘From day one, I felt welcome. And the best part is that I also get to drive a DAF here. The maintenance crew makes sure our trucks are always kept clean and in top condition.’

A working day with a focus on safety

Franky starts his working day early, between 4 and 5 in the morning. ‘I start by checking the truck: oil, tyres, and especially the tensioning belts. Everything has to be in top shape, because safety is central to his work. ‘Every load is tightly secured, sometimes with up to 18 tensioning straps. It's intensive, but I enjoy the challenge. Then I leave for my assignment, often towards the Netherlands.’

On arrival on site, he reports to the site manager. ‘Most unloading sites I know, but new sites can be challenging. Unloading usually goes smoothly and staff on site help because I don't have a forklift with me. Then I reload and return to Verrebroek for the next day.’

Collegial atmosphere and professionalism

What Franky appreciates most is the cooperation with his colleagues. ‘Everyone is ready to help. That gives a nice feeling, especially in the first days when I still had to learn the work.’

Franky concludes with a smile: ‘At ALTRAD, I can combine my passion for trucks with a professional and warm working environment. It feels like a perfect match.’
